St. Eudokia was a young and beautiful girl from the town of Heliopolis who lived the life of a harlot. In her youth she never considered the fate of humankind in facing the final judgment, but one day, she heard from her window a monk reading a book about this very event. Upon hearing of the final judgement, St. Eudokia was both frightened and fascinated and asked the pious monk to explain more to her concerning the Christian faith. The monk told St. Eudokia to remain in prayer and fasting, after which, she had a great vision of the Archangel Michael. Shortly after this event she was baptized and gave herself over fully to Christ. Her life was filled with many good works including the building of a monastery. The Syrian officials eventually had her beheaded due to the amount of people who converted to Christianity through her efforts.
St. Eudokia, pray to God for us!
