Mother of God "Bogolub" or "The God Loving" Orthodox Icon
The
original image of the Bogolub icon of the Mother of God was painted at
the request of Grand Prince Andrew Bogolubsky in commemoration of an
appearance of the Theotokos which he witnessed. The Mother of God
stands full stature in this icon and is pictured holding an open scroll.
Prince Andrew is shown kneeling along with various additional saints
chosen at the discretion of the iconographer.
