Original antique "Nine Subject" Russian icon
This icon was painted in the late 17th - early 18th century. I cannot find any major visible restoration to this icon. Overall the painting is in great condition and the panel is stable with slight curvature and one spline missing. The panel itsself is with a double kovcheg.
The icon is presented in the following: top to bottom, left to right:
The Holy Trinity
Annunciation, Nativity of the Mother of God, Resurrection
St. George the Great Martyr, The Three Holy Hierarchs (Bail, Gregory and John), St. Nikita
Three Saints (probably Sts. Cosmos and Damien and Unknown), Holy Prophet Elijah, Three Saints (Probably Sts. Florus and Laurus and St. Paraskeva)
The overall compostion of this icon striking and unique. The style of painting and panel construction points to an earlier dating rather than later, my best approximation is circa 1680.
